Sony subwoofer won’t connect to soundbar? Use this troubleshooting guide to work out why your Sony SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer isn’t connecting to your soundbar. This guide is based on connecting the Sony SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer to either the compatible model HT-A7000 or HT-A9 soundbars.
It’s going great. You’re loving life with your new, shiny Sony wireless subwoofer.
Enjoying the best home entertainment experience possible when all of a sudden that deep bass thrill you’ve been raving about to your buddies has been lost. It happens.
But we’re here with a few helpful troubleshooting tips to get you connected back up before you can say ‘I’m all about that bass’.
No sound or only a very low-level sound is heard from the subwoofer?
No problem, should be an easy fix:
- Start by increasing the subwoofer volume by pressing the SW (volume) + or BASS + on the remote control of your subwoofer. Always a good place to start. Didn’t work? Keep following.
- Is the power indicator on the wireless subwoofer lit in green? No? Make sure that the power indicator on the subwoofer is lit in green. Still no green light on the power indicator? Try the following:
- Ensure the mains lead AC power cord is connected properly on the subwoofer
- Turn the power on by pressing the power button on the subwoofer
- Is the power indicator red or slowly flashing green? Try to following:
- Make sure the subwoofer is near to the compatible soundbar model so that the light turns green.
- Try the connecting instructions here for connecting the subwoofer to the soundbar.
- Check the status of the wireless connection.
- Is the power indicator on the subwoofer flashing red? Turn the subwoofer off by pressing (power) on the subwoofer. Also check whether the holes for ventilation on the subwoofer are not blocked.
Subwoofer sound skips or has noise?
Try these tips to fix the problem:
- Be sure to keep the subwoofer and soundbar away from any other devices nearby that generate electromagnetic waves. These could include a wireless LAN or a microwave oven.
- Try keep a clear path between the subwoofer and the soundbar. Remove any obstacles between the subwoofer and soundbar.
- Keep the subwoofer and soundbar as close to each other as possible.
- Try switching the [RF Channel] setting to [Off], and then change it back to [On] again.
- Swap the TV network connection from wireless to wired, to limit any possible subwoofer connection interference.
- Switch to [Connection] on the [Wireless Playback Quality] setting.
